The Third Half 

A curvilinear boutique villa that bends around a stand of old jackfruit trees and terraces down a steep slope toward the paddy fields of Thalpe. In place of the wide eaves and deep verandas of southern Sri Lankan vernacular, DXMID argues for a raw tropicalism: exposed concrete left true to its formwork, reclaimed timber screens that pivot with the breeze, and a rugby-ball-shaped pool that smiles rather than shouts. Three stacked terraces disappear into the topography, so that every room opens onto the valley and nothing asks to be seen
